October highlights
Punjabi and religion
On October 25, our Grade 5 students participated in the Parkash Purab celebration of Guru Ram Das Ji at Guru Nanak Sikh Gurdwara. Through Shabad and Kirtan, they represented our school and celebrated their Sikh heritage. Students received certificates and trophies recognising their participation and dedication.

Terry Fox Run: $4,100 raised
Our October 9 Terry Fox Run raised $4,100 for the Terry Fox Foundation. Thank you to our students, families and staff for supporting cancer research.
Special recognition goes to Mehar Kaur Sidhu (4A) and Ajitpartap Singh Sidhu (6A), who together raised $1,600.
Thank you to PHE teacher Lokesh Yadav and the Sports Committee for organising the event and encouraging students to take part.

Grade 10 students serve our community
On October 15, our Grade 10 students joined Khalsa Credit Union and the City of Surrey at Hunt Road Park. They removed invasive vegetation and planted more than 200 native plants, contributing to the restoration of the park’s natural environment.
Students demonstrated teamwork, perseverance and seva, and had an opportunity to meet Brenda Locke during the initiative.

Walk for Wenjack
Our fifth annual Walk for Wenjack took place on October 22. Students reflected on the experiences of Indigenous children and families affected by residential schools, including the loss of language, culture and family connections.
Thank you to everyone who supported this opportunity for learning, remembrance and reconciliation.

Learning, preparedness and school spirit
October also brought student-led conferences, participation in the Great B.C. ShakeOut and a lively Spirit Week. Thank you to the families who visited classrooms, supported fundraising and celebrated our students’ work.
If you were unable to attend student-led conferences, please contact your child’s teacher to arrange a conversation.
Parent Support Group
Our next PSG meeting is November 10 at 3:00 p.m. Parents are welcome to attend, share fundraising ideas and learn about volunteering opportunities. Meetings take place in person and last approximately one hour.
The appointed PSG officers for 2026–2027 are:
